Executive Function Self-Assessment
Executive functions are the mental skills that get things from your head into the world — planning, starting, focusing, remembering, organising, and managing emotion. This free, private self-assessment maps where yours run smoothly and where they snag. About three minutes, all on your device.
For each statement, choose how often it describes you. Higher scores reflect more day-to-day difficulty.
1I put off starting tasks until the last possible moment, even important ones.
About this screen
A structured self-report checklist organised around the core executive-function domains (task initiation, planning, working memory, attention, organisation and emotional regulation). A reflective screen, not a diagnostic instrument.
Frequently asked questions
What are executive functions?
Executive functions are the brain’s management system: task initiation, planning, working memory, focus, organisation, impulse control and emotional regulation. They’re what turn intention into action.
Does a low executive-function score mean I have ADHD?
Not necessarily. Executive-function difficulties are common in ADHD but also appear with anxiety, depression, stress, poor sleep and other conditions. A high-difficulty result is a reason to look closer, not a diagnosis.
Can executive function be improved?
Yes — it’s one of the more trainable areas. External scaffolding (systems, reminders, environment design) and coaching can make a substantial difference, often quite quickly.
